HAWF has three goals: first, to simply enjoy the pleasures of wine and food and to appreciate them enthusiastically and responsibly; second, to share this enthusiasm with like-minded alumni in a collaborative, supportive, and social environment; and third, to reach out to current students in order to mentor their careers in wine and food.
HAWF
provides a “next step” for wine and food interest groups across the
university, including the Wine & Cuisine Society at the Harvard
Business School, the Harvard Law School Food and Wine Society, and the
Harvard College Culinary Society, which are all student organizations.
HAWF also acts as a bridge organization to unite not only the students
but also faculty and staff who participate actively in these
organizations.
Overall, HAWF will serve
-
to maintain, expand and promote a network of Harvard professionals in the field of wine, food and hospitality
-
to develop a sense of community interest in these topics among alumni, faculty and students
-
to
encourage alumni involvement in academic affairs that affect wine and
food consumption within the Harvard University community, such as
educational initiatives to advance wine appreciation and responsible
drinking
-
to
link professional and academic experience with the study of food and
wine as they relate to culture and society, and with the hospitality
industry in general
-
to bring together Harvard Alumni who share an interest in or concern for wine and food
-
to
work together with Harvard student wine and food organizations to help
support them, accomplish common goals, and provide a network of fellow
Harvard Alumni with shared interests they will have the opportunity to
join once they graduate
-
to
work with the Harvard Alumni Association (“HAA”), related clubs in the
College and Professional Schools, different HAA Shared Interest Groups,
and others on areas of common interest as any of those included here
-
to
interact with leaders in the fields of Academics, Business, Science,
Industry, and Government as well as concerned citizens on topics of
interest to wine, food and hospitality.
